Version 0.7.0 Released

It’s Sunday - time for some updates!

AMD Bot

The Ryzen 5000 launch went a lot better than expected - yet I still didn’t manage to get one of these shiny new processors. Well, technically, I ordered it - but I highly doubt it to arrive any time soon.

Since I’ve launched the RTX3000 bot for the exact same reason it’s time to release a new bot: @iloveryzen5000 which now tracks the new Ryzen 5000 CPUs on Amazon, BestBuy, Newegg, Alternate and Notebooksbilliger.

Newegg / BestBuy and missed restocks

The bot reportedly missed some restocks on Newegg and BestBuy and I’d like briefly to talk about this entire “US shop tracking”.

Tracking US shops for me is a lot harder than european shops. For example, if I open newegg.com I get greeted by this fancy message:

newegg

Such shenanigans and the fact that I’ve never used of these shops makes debugging a lot harder.

With the addition of the AMD bot, which also tracks Newegg and BB, we’ll see if this situation improves. In case the bot continues to miss restocks I unfortunately have to drop support for these shops.

Price filters

A lot of people ask me for adding price filters since some insane folks are selling things for more than double the MSRP. Sadly the answer to that is that I can’t add price filters because I don’t know what people are willing to pay.

Maybe you don’t want to pay more than MSRP at all? Maybe you’re willing to pay 30% more? 40%? 100%? Where would I set the limit?

Take my case for example: I’m willing to pay more than MSRP since it’s virtually impossible to get a GPU in Austria. Would I pay double the price? No. Would I pay 20% more? Probably.

Maybe you’re good with paying 50% more - but adding a price filter at 20% would hide restocks from you. This would probably lead to people being upset about missed restocks instead of insane prices - which is why I can’t add price filters.
